GREAT NECK — Nassau County police and county ambulance workers have taken part in a special delivery — a baby girl born on the way to the hospital.

Authorities say officers went to a bank parking lot in Great Neck around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to help a 40-year-old woman who'd gone into labor. An ambulance was called and on the way to the hospital, the baby was born.

The Nassau County Police Department will hold a news briefing at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North Shore Manhasset Hospital to discuss the delivery.
