County Attorney Chris Gardner has been named to the Schenectady County Industrial Development Agency’s Board of Directors, raising concerns that his appointment may pose a conflict of interest. Gardner, the former chairman of the county’s Democratic Committee and among its most influential members, was tapped to replace the ailing Bernie Mericle. More of the same in Schenectady County. Does the IDA have its own legal counsel or is the county attorney their lawyer? If so - then it's more than just a conflict of interest, it's an impropriety. The idea that more people should be involved in county politics is a good one - all people around here think is that they are being taxed to oblivion. I'm a long time democrat who now frequently votes republican in local races.
