— Authorities allege a Schoharie County woman spent personal allowance money belonging to disabled clients of the Schoharie County ARC.

Samantha Cross, 31, was charged Monday with fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, according to a release from the state Attorney General’s Office.

Cross, who worked as an assistant manager at the Schoharie ARC, a center for individuals with disabilities, is accused of spending more than $1,000 on cellphones, calling cards and iTunes gift cards using credit cards issued by the Schoharie ARC, according to the release.

Cross allegedly reported the purchases were made on behalf of disabled residents — none of whom own a cell phone, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

“There are few acts more reprehensible than taking advantage of individuals with disabilities,” Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman said in the release.

Cross was arraigned in Schoharie Town Court.
