Up to 6 inches of snow expected; schools starting to cancel events

Between two and six inches of snow are predicted to fall in the Capital Region today, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. A winter weather advisory has been issued and will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Light to moderate snow is expected at rates of a half-inch to one inch per hour before it tapers off early this evening.
