Boys' basketball: Holmes pumps in 21 as Pats rout Maginn

Schenectady dominated the first and third periods, outscoring Bishop Maginn, 36-11, en route to a convincing 61-38 Big 10 boys’ basketball victory Friday night.

Tobias Holmes poured in 21 points, and Randall Symes added 12 for the 2-1 Patriots. Maginn fell to 0-3.

Anthony Mack’s 18 points topped four double-digit scorers as Catholic Central crushed Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 74-37.

Raiquis Harris (14), Luke Korkemaz (14) and Brian Brooks (12) also scored in double figures for the Crusaders. Brendan Maloney tossed in 17 points for the Golden Knights.

Unbeaten Troy thumped Amsterdam, 72-42, behind four double-digit scorers. Ryan Carmello’s 13 points led the way for the 4-0 Flying Horses, who also got strong games from Dyaire Holt (11), Zach Radz (10) and Jallah Jackson (10).

Amsterdam (1-3) was led by Kory Bergh’s 10 points.

Jahlil Nails popped in 14 points, and Justin Luther and John Palmer combined for 23 more to carry Columbia over Mohonasen, 57-51, in the Suburban Council.

The Blue Streaks improved to 2-1. Chris Richardson scored 16 points, and Ryan Carter added 13 for the 0-3 Mighty Warriors.

Matt Cerutti (17), Marc duMoulin (17) and Vincent Simeone (16) combined for 50 points as balanced Guilderland stopped Colonie, 71-57.

The Dutchmen pulled away with a 27-13 second-quarter surge. Nolan Smith tossed in 23 points for the Garnet Raiders.

Malik Dare pumped in 23 points to propel Shaker over Niskayuna, 77-53.

The Blue Bison took control with a 22-8 second-quarter run. Andrew Holmes and Seamus McHugh added 18 and 12 points, respectively, for Shaker. Tommy Kelly scored 12, and Aidan Byrne and Ralph Flores added 11 apiece for the Silver Warriors.

Connor Morrelli sank 10 free throws en route to scoring 24 points as Bethlehem turned back Averill Park, 66-61.

John Sica added 14 points for the Eagles. Logan Fahrenkopf scored 15 for the Warriors.

The 1-2-3 punch of Andrew Gentile (17), Andre Edgerton (14) and Jeremy Mendrick (11) combined for 42 points to lead Ballston Spa over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 60-36.

Austin Nydegger tossed in 14 for the Spartans.

Kevin Huerter found the range from long distance, firing in six three-pointers and finishing with 22 points to lead Shenendehowa over Saratoga Springs, 66-34.

Jake Hicks added 16 points for the 3-0, 3-1 Plainsmen, who put 10 players in the scoring column.

Scotia-Glenville, spearheaded by Joe Cremo’s 23 points and Alex Sausville’s 19, dominated from start to finish and beat host Johnstown, 71-24, in the Foothills Council.

The Tartans led, 20-6, 37-17 and 58-21 at the quarter stops.

Asa Barnhill and James Scholl recorded 17 points apiece, and KeyShawn Arnold added 14 as Gloversville edged Broadalbin-Perth, 57-48.

Gloversville, which made 18 of 29 free throws, compared to just 7-for-16 for Broadalbin-Perth, is 1-0 in the Foothills Council and 2-0 overall.

Jake Coveney and Andre Taylor netted 10 points each for the 0-1, 3-2 Patriots.

Jordan Green tallied 26 points, and Caleb Canty backed him up with 19 to help Glens Falls trip Queensbury, 61-57.

Hudson Falls poured in 27 second-quarter points on the way to a 57-45 victory over South Glens Falls.

Wyatt Gorham’s 18 points led the Panthers, while Travis Ramsey scored 16 for the Bulldogs.

Jesse Curtin connected for 22 points, and Shelton Alston backed him up with 19 to lead Cohoes (2-0, 3-1) over Lansingburgh (0-3, 0-4) in the Colonial Council.

Darnell Sutton’s 20 points topped the Knights.

Also in the Colonial, Logan Polsinello and Nico Dumas each scored 18 points in Mechanicville’s 53-50 decision over Ichabod Crane.

In the Wasaren League, John Rooney registered 18 points, and Mike Pierre netted 16 to carry Hoosic Valley past Cambridge, 64-38.

Willy Bradley sank 11 free throws, and Andrew Hoag added 12 more as Hoosick Falls won the battle at the free-throw line with a 65-56 win over Schuylerville.

Mark Hackett topped the Panthers with 16 points to lead four double-figure scorers. Dante Langley’s 19 points led the Black Horses.

Stillwater edged Greenwich, 63-56, in triple overtime. Mitchell Wayand scored 23 points for the Warriors, while Justin Carruthers netted 26 for the Witches.

James Sacket connected for 24 points, Cole Keyser and Daryl Silverlieb added 12 points each and Connor Brown dominated the boards with 17 rebounds to power Schoharie over Sharon Springs,

76-43, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Jeff Clemimshaw scored 18 points for the Spartans.

Saratoga Central Catholic used balance and depth to defeat Canajoharie, 55-50, despite 21 points from the Cougars’ Josh Gonzalez.

Mayfield rallied past Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, 53-50, behind 14 points from Josh Gallup and 12 from Todd Briggs.

Dylan Klock scored a game-high 22 points for OESJ.

Chris Smalls (19) and Drew Rice (17) combined for 36 points to lead unbeaten Duanesburg (1-0, 5-0) over Middleburgh.

In the Adirondack League, the Shippee brothers had a field day, as Robert Shippee scored 19 points to along with 19 rebounds, and Zach Shippee contributed 19 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, to spark Corinth past Fort Edward, 77-50.

Brandon Drolette and Blake Basmajian scored 10 points each for the 2-2 Tomahawks.

In a non-league game, David Warnken poured in 35 points to power Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk past Greenville, 86-36.
