Defending Class A champs hold off Patriots

Dyaire Holt scored 17 points, and Troy held off Schenectady for its third straight Big 10 win, 53-47, at the Pat Riley Sports Center Tuesday night.

Justin Walston scored 12 points for the reigning Section II Class AA champions, and Zach Ratz added 11. Keishaun Wheelings scored 19 points for the Patriots (1-2), one shy of his career high.

Christian Brothers Academy (2-1) built a 21-6 first-quarter lead and eased past Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 75-33.

Christian Ward led the Brothers with 13 points, Diamond Craker had 11 and Matt Halem contributed 10. Niveh Sanders and Brendan Maloney topped the Golden Knights with 11 and 10, respectively.

Anthony Mack piled up 30 points and eight rebounds, and Jiriem Tedder totaled 13 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five assists in Catholic Central’s 63-57 win over Amsterdam.

Kory Bergh led the Running Rams with 19 points and Marcus Pritchard had 17.

Andrew Platek hit for 23 points and Vin Simeone connected for 21 to propel Guilderland past Columbia, 75-62, in a Suburban Council game.

Matt Cerutti added 10 points for the Dutchmen. Elijah Lott sparked Columbia with 27 points, and Jahlil Nails delivered 20.

Shenendehowa closed the first quarter with a 10-2 run, and used a 12-0 spurt in the second frame to build a commanding lead in a 75-49 triumph over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.

Tom Huerter scored 18 points for the Plainsmen (2-0, 2-1), Kevin Huerter had 12 and Bradon Fischer added 10. Austin Nydegger scored 14 points for the Spartans.

John Sica led a balanced Beth­lehem offense with 15 points, and the Eagles beat Mohonasen, 53-36.

Andrew Gentile sank three three-point hoops in the fourth quarter as Ballston Spa rallied for a 53-46 win over Niskayuna.

Andrew Edgerton led the Scotties with 20 points, and Jeremy Mendrick had seven of his 13 in their 22-9 fourth-quarter surge. Aaron Gordon fired in 19 points for the Silver Warriors.

Malik Dare worked inside for 16 points, and Seamus McHugh scored 13 to lift Shaker over Sar­atoga Springs, 61-36.

Will Francis added 10 points for the Blue Bison. Noah Arciero had 12 for the Blue Streaks, and Chris Byno had 11.

Myles Joyce sank three of Averill Park’s nine three-point baskets and totaled 20 points in a 50-48 win over Colonie.

Logan Fahrenkopf scored 13 points for the Warriors. Nolan Smith nailed six threes and paced the Garnet Raiders with 27 points, while Ryan Nicholson added 11.

Will Turner collected 28 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in Fonda-Fultonville’s 69-40 Colonial Council win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Cam Ives chipped in with 13 points and six boards as the Braves secured their first win of the season. Keenan Loder scored 14 points for the Bulldogs.

Dave Warnken pumped in 24 points, and Mike Babcock put in 15 to lead Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk past Lansingburgh, 60-50.

Darnell Sutton topped the Knights with 28 points.

Brandon LaForest scored 17 points, and Cohoes went on a 20-9, second-quartere run before holding off Mechanicville the rest of the way in a 62-56 victory.

Trey Brammer scored 12 points for the Tigers, and Shelton Alston had 10. Logan Polsinello led the Red Raiders with 16 points, and Nico Dumas had 14.

Jonny Dariano scored 19 points to carry Loudonville Christian past New Lebanon, 50-12, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Austin Pitts scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half, and Hoosick Falls beat Tamarac, 62-40, in the Wasaren League.

Jonny Vicciarelli scored 16 points and Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville beat Northville, 60-50, in the Western Athletic Conference.
