TROY — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute junior Ryan Haggerty, the leading goal scorer in the nation, staked the Engineers to a 2-0 lead, but No. 5 Quinnipiac roared back to salvage a 3-3 tie Friday night in an ECAC Hockey game at Houston Field House.

Matt Peca gave the Bobcats (6-1-2 ECACH, 13-2-3 overall) the point when he scored a power-play goal at 11:37 of the third period to complete the comeback.

Haggerty scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season in the first 6:31 for the Engineers (2-3-3, 7-5-3), but the Bobcats used goals by Zach Tolkinen and freshman Sam Anas in the second period to pull even.

RPI went back in front on Chris Bradley’s second goal of the season at 1:02 of the third, but Peca beat RPI goalie Scott Diebold for the winner after Bo Dolan went to the penalty box for interference.

The Engineers will host Princeton at 4 this afternoon.
