AMSTERDAM Police have made an arrest in a robbery that occurred Tuesday at Upstate Electronics on Market Street.
Following an investigation, police Wednesday arrested Daniel R. Pabon, 29, of Bunn Street, on charges of first-degree robbery, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Police obtained a search warrant for his residence and recovered numerous pieces of evidence relating to the robbery, police said.
Pabon was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and sent to the Montgomery County jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
According to police, a clerk at Upstate Electronics was held up at knifepoint. The unidentified clerk required six stitches to his hand after a confrontation with the suspect, police said.
Meanwhile, an investigation into a robbery Monday at the Suman Convenience Store is still active, and no arrests have been made.
According to police, a man robbed the store in the Amsterdam Riverfront Center after displaying what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. He walked off with cash from the register and a carton of Newport cigarettes.
The store had just opened in November.
Police said they are reviewing surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Amsterdam Police Department at 842-1100.
