Too bad this information wasn't made public before the election. The Schenectady County Democratic Committee is out of control, unable to find qualified candidates and is on its way out. Until City voters wake up and throw out the one party tax lovers nothing will improve.

Is he even a citizen? I heard he is not. That would disqualify him.

Of course he is a citizen, he was on the ballot!!!! And leaving a job to devote time to a campaign is something that MANY MANY candidates do!

@rmd1230 - I agree, the accusation that he isn't a citizen is absurd. A person cannot be on the ballot without being, first and foremost, a citizen of the United States. However, perhaps "many many" candidates running for a full-time public position would leave their jobs, but being a Schenectady City Councilman is a part-time position. Semantics aside, it was Mootooveren’s deceitfulness that has irked me and others. If he simply said he left his job during the campaign (which I don’t know if that is even the case), then there would be no problem.

John Mootooveren was fired not on leave to campaign. He continued to lie about his employer, his age and his accounting credentials. According to Councilman Carl Erickson it is alright to lie if running for only a part time post. In any other City he would not allowed to take office under false pretenses and the fourth place finisher Joe Lazzari seated. Where is the City Attorney on this debacle?
