Amsterdam man allegedly seen selling drugs
AMSTERDAM One Amsterdam man is in custody after allegedly selling cocaine in view of city police and a State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Amsterdam police, working with the state narcotics team, were conducting surveillance Thursday along East Main and John streets in the city after receiving multiple community complaints of drug activity in that area.
During the course of the investigation, Tony Rodriguez, 29, of 18 William St. “was observed conducting hand to hand drug transactions,” according to an Amsterdam police press release.
Officers converged on the area, arrested Rodriguez and found four plastic bags of cocaine in his possession, police said.
Rodriguez faces charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.
