Amsterdam couple charged with neglecting puppy
AMSTERDAM Amsterdam police say two city residents left an 8-month-old dog found emaciated and abandoned earlier this week.
Michael T. Murray, 27, and Jodiann Mcleod, 26, were charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals under Buster’s Law, according to a news release. The couple, who live at 33 Union St., were also issued violations for failing to license and vaccinate the dog.
The dog was found Sunday at a home on Union Street and was in such a state of malnutrition that she was suffering tremors and a sodium shortage.
“It was learned that while the two owned a mixed-breed female dog, they failed to provide food and water for the dog for several weeks, causing serious medical issues for the dog,” Det. Thomas Hennessy said in the release.
Murray and Mcleod were released on tickets to appear in Amsterdam City Court.
