There’s no question that the city of Schenectady should raise the ridiculously low $10 fee it charges businesses to hold block parties. The question is, how much? The answer is: It depends. Part of downtown’s revival is a lively bar and restaurant scene. Another fee! To the highest taxed businesses in the Capital District. This will be as great a revenue generator as the garage sale fee. There should be no fee to bring some private sector vitality back to Schenectady. How much does it cost for police and fire protection at no PILOT Proctor's?
