New veterans office coming soon in Schuylerville

Town offers free space to house counseling program

A new Veterans Administration office for providing counseling to combat veterans and their families will open in Schuylerville this fall, Saratoga town Supervisor Tom Wood said. The location at Saratoga Town Hall will give veterans an alternative to going to an established Veterans Center in Colonie. The town is providing the office space at no charge, Wood said. The VA has some internal competition between the PTSD programs at their hospitals & their Vet centers that can be confusing. Nearly 15 years experience as a client at the Albany Vet Center & a brief experience with the St Petersburg, FL Vet Center has taught me that Vet Centers are the places for veterans to go if they even suspect their wartime experiences might be causing troubles in their lives. My biggest pleasure in reading this article is that Saratoga County officials have realized this too & are wholeheartedly supporting this new Vet Center satellite.
