Up until the 1970s, the West Virginia Pulp and Paper mill helped sustain Mechanicville by providing jobs to about 700 people. The last vestige of that mill now is being reduced to rubble, but developers plan in its place a $58 million project city leaders hope will revive the former industrial city.
