Schenectady man gets 10 years for robbing Colonie motel
COLONIE David Taylor will spend the next decade behind bars after admitting he robbed the front desk at the Best Western in Colonie.
The 37-year-old Schenectady man was also ordered to serve five years of post-release supervision during his sentencing in Albany County Court Tuesday. Taylor admitted to one felony count of robbery last month.
In February, Taylor ordered two workers to the ground and then made off with cash from the front desk. At some point during the Feb. 12 robbery, one of the workers was grabbed by the neck and thrown to the floor.
Taylor directed the employees to count to 100 and then fled the motel with another unidentified individual. Workers were able to identify Taylor as a former worker at the motel who had been previously fired by management.
Authorities are still trying to find the other individual who was with Taylor on the evening of the robbery. Assistant District Attorney Steven Sharp handled the prosecution of this case.
