Saratoga needs a modern-day sheriff

I was impressed to see Jeff Gildersleeve announce an initiative to bring the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department into the 21st century with technological upgrades. Jeff pledged to create department emails, utilize the Internet, install video arraignments, and increase modern law enforcement techniques once he is elected.

It was nice to see a sheriff candidate that can think outside the box and recognize the importance as an administrator to look at new ways to do business. Jeff Gildersleeve demonstrated real initiative.

In disappointing contrast, Mike Zurlo spent over 30 years in the dark ages at the Sheriff’s Department. He never realized that there was a technology problem until Jeff Gildersleeve told him there was.

Almost an entire month passed after I first learned of Jeff’s plan before, all of a sudden, Mike announced he was going to do the same exact thing. He was nice enough to not completely copy Jeff’s plan, since the two had different names.

We can’t even consider electing a sheriff who cannot think for himself. Jeff Gildersleeve is a leader who inspires officers to improve their skill-set in serving the public, and Mike Zurlo simply follows orders until someone tells him there’s a problem.

Join me in voting for Jeff Gildersleeve as Saratoga County sheriff in the Republican Primary on Sept. 10.
