— A man suffered a gunshot wound to his groin Friday night, a wound that police determined was accidentally self-inflicted.

The shooting happened Friday evening at the Imperial Motel on State Street, police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken said. His name was not available.

The man had the gun stuffed in his waistband and it accidentally discharged, hitting him, McCracken said.

He was taken to Albany Medical Center with what were believed not to be life-threatening injuries.

The investigation was ongoing, with charges possible, McCracken said.

Haha - don't you have the cash for a holster? Your waistband is definitely not the place for a loaded firearm, but then you wouldn't really know that, yes?
