City firefighters battle a two-alarm fire at 53 Columbia St. today after flames were discovered in the kitchen area of the first-floor apartment, according to Gazette photographer Peter Barber, who was at the scene. Later, a fire investigator was called to the address, according to scanner reports. The home is situated near Vale Cemetery, a few blocks west of Brandywine Avenue.
