— More than 1,000 high school students and faculty members from 37 schools in the region are taking part in the 12th annual Capital District Construction Career Day, a hands-on event designed to introduce youths to the opportunities available in the construction industry.

The event began Wednesday and continues today at the United States Navy Operational Support Center, 251 Rudy Chase Dr.

Students will have an opportunity to meet with construction industry professionals, including those from the construction trades such as heavy equipment operators, carpenters, bricklayers, electrical workers, as well as construction management professionals. Also on hand will be the United States Navy Seabees and college representatives from the State University of New York College at Delhi, Alfred State, Utica College and Hudson Valley Community College.
