SARATOGA SPRINGS The arrest of six people on drug-related charges Friday is the “final piece” in a Saratoga Springs Police Department narcotics investigation that started late last year, a police official said Monday.
Lt. John Catone, head of the department’s investigations unit, said the arrests Friday evening at 149 Grand Ave. brings the total number arrested to 26 people.
Friday’s bust, during which no one was injured and no shots were fired, “ties everything up into a nice neat package,” he said.
The arrests are generally for the possession and sale of cocaine, heroin or other controlled substances such as hydocodone.
Catone said city police were helped by the state police Special Operations Response Team, which used an armored vehicle and a helicopter to execute a search warrant of 149 Grand Ave. He said the team brings certain equipment with it on every operation, including a helicopter.
“The helicopter is there to provide air support or in the event of a medical emergency,” he said.
