The budget increases spending by $1.3 million from the current year and raises the tax levy by 4.46 percent, which is under the district’s 4.5 percent tax levy limit. A homeowner with an average assessment of $160,000 would see their tax bill increase to about $3,518 — before counting ...

Schenectady County is facing huge tax increases across the board. Every school has an office with multiple duplications from the adjoining school. Think some consolidation and sharing of services are in order here? I lake the part about a retired person on social security having an 'average' house and his taxes now only going up $150.
Oh yea; the GOP thinks people living on Social Security are lazy, non-contributing 'takers'. The city, towns, villages and schools don't mind taking as much money from retirees and low income people as possible and over paying the public employees.
Why can't I sell my ,(over taxed), house in Schenectady; then I could move to a tax free state and survive.

justapto.....Really, the GOP? It is the GOP that is trying to save our butts as we grow older. It is the GOP that keeps trying to get bills passed that will save Social Security and Medicare for future seniors. I would be willing to bet that the majority on the School Board lean left.

I can agree wth your complaints about the proposed school budget. I am tired of paying out the nose for over inflated retirement deals for those working in our school system. Maybe you should take a look at who really runs the Board of Education and quit believing the lies of the Democrats when they tell you all the terrible things the GOP wants to do to you. None of the ideas the GOP have put forth regarding Social Security would affect you or anyone over 55.

In his budget, the President himself has proposed a cut in the way cost of living increases for SS in the future would be calculated, leaving you with less money to deal with inflation. It is Obamacare that took $750 billion dollars from Medicare to help fund the law. In other words, because of the Democrats, you are going to pay about $90 more a month for your medicare coverages. Not to mention you could be looking for a new doctor because he/she may refuse to accept Medicare payments because he/she can no longer afford to accept those payments without going bankrupt.

Try flicking your TV over to Fox News once in a while and get both sides of the story. You would be surprised how fair and balanced they really are, and how many stories they cover that the "main stream media" refuse to cover because it might make Obama look bad. At the very least, question and investigate what you hear from both sides of the aisle.
