Troy man sentenced for driving backhoe while drunk
ALBANY Driving a backhoe while intoxicated will result in a Troy man spending six months in jail.
Jesus O’Farril, 44, pleaded guilty in Albany County Court Wednesday morning to operating a John Deer backhoe on Central Avenue while drunk. On Feb. 1, police stopped O’Farril for failing to stay in the right lane.
Officers noticed that O’Farril appeared to be intoxicated and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Police also found an open can of the alcoholic energy drink Four Loko in his vehicle. His blood alcohol content tested at 0.18.
In addition to the jail sentence, O’Farril will spend five years of felony probation, must pay a $1,000 fine, have his driver’s license revoked and must install an ignition interlock device for five years on his vehicle.
