Schenectady native killed in Georgia motorcycle crash
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A Schenectady native was killed early this morning when he crashed his motorcycle in Savannah, Ga.
Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Julian Miller said Torey Williams, 18, was riding at a high rate of speed shortly before 4 a.m. when he lost control and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Williams was attending Savannah State University, according to his Facebook Page. He graduated last year from Christian Brothers Academy in Colonie, where he was a lacrosse and football player.
Miller said Williams had just secured a learner's license Friday. The license did not allow him to ride at night, when the accident occurred.
