— Glenville Supervisor Chris Koetzle officially has announced his campaign for re-election.

Koetzle, a Republican who was elected in 2009, said he wants to continue the work done during his first term. He cited among his accomplishments as improving the town’s finances, which he said led to town’s bond rating upgrade that will save Glenville $1 million through bond debt refinancing; reducing the use of the town’s surplus to balance its budget; and staying under the tax cap.

Another initiative Koetzle cited was economic development and redevelopment of the town’s business corridors with the new Target, Panera bakery and other development at the old Kmart plaza. He said attracting businesses to the Route 5 and Freemans Bridge Road corridor would be a priority in a second term.

Koetzle also pointed to the state Attorney General’s settlement of a dispute with Time Warner Cable, which is refunding Glenville customers about $1.2 million. Town officials brought to the state’s attention that the cable company was passing through 5 percent of its franchise fee to customers instead of the 2 percent specified in Time Warner’s agreement with Glenville.

Koetzle on Monday launched his website at

Koetzle was elected to the Town Board in 2007 and ran for supervisor two years later.

Won't be getting our vote Wake up - Still a lot of work to be done- Is the empty weed infested (who knows what else) lot across from Price Chopper still a priority??? Oh wait - it needs to be empty to provide all of the politicians a place for their campaign signs. It is wonderful that Target is here and Panera will be soon (what a fight that was) along with Chipotle coming but that is so the area next to Town Hall looks pretty. Many people feel the same way - so a lot of stepping up to the plate is in order..
