Canajoharie girls run WAC record to 9-0-0
Jenelle Dillenbeck scored five goals and assisted on another to lead the Canajoharie girls’ soccer team to an 8-2 Western Athletic Conference win over Duanesburg on Friday.
The Cougars are 9-0-0 in the WAC. Morgan Koeble added a goal and two assists, while other goals came from Megan Balfe and Hannah Bowerman. Lauren Balfe made three saves in the win.
Duanesburg (1-7-0 WAC) got goals from Andrea Barton and Megan Wilkes, while Nicole Cassale made eight saves.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo was handed just its second league loss of the season when St. Johnsville beat the Bulldogs, 2-1, thanks to 14 saves from Leann Knapp.
The Saints (4-4-0 WAC) got goals from Rylie Smith and Meghan Clarke. BKW (6-2-1 WAC) got its goal from Delaney Martin, and Liz Harvey made three saves.
Schoharie’s Seana Cleveland scored four goals in a 9-1 win over Sharon Springs. The Indians (5-4-0, 5-4-0) also got two goals from Angelina Dietz and a goal apiece from Lauren Archer, Kaitlyn Kendle and Grace Caza. Lindsey Vanier and Kassidee VanGasbeck both made five saves.
Morgan Daignault scored for Sharon Springs (0-8-0, 1-9-0), Alexis VanArsdale made 12 saves, and Rory Byrnes made eight stops.
Amanda Roney scored twice and assisted on a goal as Middleburgh beat Fort Plain, 4-0. Megan Hagadorn made seven saves in the shutout, and Taylor Cater and Lynnea Miller had a goal apiece for Middleburgh (7-3-0, 7-3-0). Molly Francis handed out two assists.
Fort Plain (2-6-0 WAC) got 26 saves from Kendra Trembley.
Nicole Soultanian scored twice to lead Stillwater to a 4-1 Wasaren League win over Granville. Sarah Geertgens and Erin Foley also scored for Stillwater (3-4-1 Wasaren). Granville (0-7-0 Wasaren) got on the board in the first half with a goal from Hannah Gould.
Alyssa Giordano and Jordyn Haynes scored for Hoosick Falls in a 2-0 win over Hoosic Valley. Hannah Fricke made 10 saves in the shutout for Hoosick Falls (8-0-0 Wasaren), and Samantha Carlo stopped 16 shots for Hoosic Valley (4-2-1 Wasaren).
Chatham beat Stony Brook School, 3-0, in a non-league game, getting goals from Alyssa Keeler, Jessica Patzwahl and Liz Tucksmith, Keeler adding an assist. Caitlin Gilligan made seven saves for Chatham.
Amsterdam’s Rebecca Natale scored twice in the second half to lead the Rams to a 3-0 non-league win over Northville. Bridget Fitz-James also scored for Amsterdam, and Cassie Robataille made nine saves.
Northville (3-3-2) got seven saves from Joanna Schulte.
