Girls’ volleyball: Patriots triumph
Brielle Lazzari and Kristen St. Andrews combined for 16 service points, and Tara Riley posted eight kills as Schenectady defeated Bishop Maginn, 25-16, 25-16, 25-10, in a Big 10 match.
The Patriots improved to 5-2 in the league and 6-3 overall.
Cassie Nosal put down six kills, and Caroline Bouchard contributed five kills and 16 digs in Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons’ 25-12, 27-25, 25-23 triumph over Albany.
Edja Montgomery tallied nine service points and seven digs, Sarah Del Vecchio posted 10 service points and Emily Brown added 12 assists and two blocks for the 6-1, 8-2 Golden Knights.
Albany (3-4, 5-5) was led by Mylah Chandler with six kills and four blocks.
In the Foothills Council, Annie Stock was a power up front with 13 kills and 12 digs, and Hannah Breda posted eight kills in Johnstown’s 24-26, 25-16, 25-10, 25-23 victory over Broadalbin-Perth.
Zara Hyde (12 assists, 17 digs, 12 service points and six kills) and Alyssa Nellis (six kills, three digs) also contributed for the Lady Bills.
Gloversville (4-4, 5-4) defeated Scotia-Glenville, 25-13, 25-17, 25-12.
Jenna Putnam (13 assists, nine aces) and Katlyn Pierce (12 kills, eight blocks) led Gloversville.
Alli Blyth recorded 16 kills, and Emily Pieniazek posted 26 service points to help Schoharie rally past Fort Plain, 20-25, 25-6, 25-13, 25-21, in a Western Athletic Conference match.
Schoharie improves to 7-1. Fort Plain, led by 23 combined service points from Shawne Cotton and Nicole Bouchard, falls to 0-5 and 1-6.
Gracie Adams and Evangeline Wilcox combined for 19 service points, and Jodi Streath and Shyanna Logan each produced five kills in Canajoharie’s 26-24, 25-10, 25-22 win over Middleburgh.
Lenna Pigott’s eight kills were best for the Knights.
Galway rode seven kills, 15 service points and five aces from Emily Zawisa to a 25-14, 25-17,2 5-12 win over Duanesburg.
Rachel Jones chipped in with nine service points and four kills for 6-1, 8-1 Galway. Taylor Martineau’s eight digs and Rebecca Gallup’s three kills and four digs paced 4-3 Duanesburg.
Nicole Little (11 service points, seven kills, five digs, three blocks) and Miranda Eagan (10 service points, seven assists, five aces) lifted Mayfield (4-2, 5-2) over Berne-Knox-Westerlo, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
Gabriella Audino’s 21 assists, 11 digs and six kills and Danielle Hubbard’s 12 kills and 10 digs led the 3-3, 4-4 Lady Bulldogs.
Meghan McDonough and Sloan Conners combined for 27 service points in Saratoga Central Catholic’s 25-23, 25-22, 11-25, 25-5 win over Mekeel Christian Academy.
In non-league action, Averil Park blanked Catholic Central, 25-11, 25-15, 25-12, to even its record at 6-6.
Jess Powers produced five kills, and Alex Madsen registered 23 assists for the Warriors. Claire Herubin topped Catholic Central with five kills and 12 digs, while Taylor Wilk had 17 digs.
