Girls’ soccer: Malone leads Spartans
Meghan Malone scored a goal and also had an assist, as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake snapped Shenendehowa’s seven-game unbeaten, unscored-on run with a 3-1 win over the Lady Plainsmen.
Morgan Burchhardt and Sky Kaler also scored goals, and Florie Comley made a dozen saves as the 5-3-0 Lady Spartans won their fourth straight. Meghan Cavanaugh had the goal for Shenendehowa, which fell to 6-2-1.
Niskayuna remained unbeaten, as Anna Parzych scored a pair of goals in a 4-1 victory over Shaker. Meghan Doyle and Liz Farley also had goals for the 9-0-0 Lady Silver Warriors. Kate Essepian had the Shaker goal.
Nicole Sirianni, Ellery Bianco and Taylor Camoin all had a pair of goals as 5-3-1 Saratoga Springs rolled past Ballston Spa, 8-1, in the other Suburban Council North game.
South Division leader Bethlehem was held to a 2-2 draw by Columbia. Tara Teal had both goals for 6-2-1 Bethlehem.
Lindsay Mulligan and Amber DeBarr had the goals for 1-7-1 Columbia.
Serena Cascarano had both goals as Mohonasen beat Averill Park, 2-0, to snap a five-game winless streak. Maddie Egan and Megan Reese picked up assists for the 3-4-1 Lady Warriors.
Sam Blizzard had a goal and assist, and South Glens Falls jumped out to a three-goal halftime lead in beating Scotia-Glenville, 3-1, in the Foothills Council.
Sami Hubinsky and Taylor Pechtel also scored as the Lady Bulldogs handed the Lady Tartans their first loss of the season and pulled into a tie for the league lead with Scotia at 6-1-0.
Sophie Constantino had the goal for Scotia, 7-1-0 overall.
Brittany LaPlant scored four goals as Queensbury beat Broadalbin-Perth, 6-0, and prevented the Lady Patriots from making it a three-way tie for the league lead.
Chanel Thomas had both goals as Gloversville knocked off Hudson Falls, 2-1.
Alexis Riffelbach scored two goals as Big 10 leader Catholic Central beat Amsterdam, 3-0, to go to 4-0-0 in league play. Annette Volpe had the other goal for the Lady Falcons.
Rachael Gac and Allie Gallo both had three goals, with Gac adding a pair of assists, as unbeaten (9-0-0) Schalmont blew pats Watervliet, 10-0, in the Colonial Council.
Ciara Vitallo added two goals and a pair of assists, and Alyssa Heinrichs and Diana DiCocco both had a goal for the reigning state Class B champs.
Emma Hardy scored three goals, and Valerie Taylor had the other two as Albany Academy beat Fonda-Fultonville, 5-2.
