Volleyball: Knights win in Big 10

Alyssa Pina dominated the service line with 13 aces, and Sarah DelVecchio and Caroline Bouchard combined for 10 kills to spark Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a 25-12, 25-8, 25-7 win over Bishop Maginn in a Big 10 match.

Siobhan Muscanelli added eight aces for the 5-1, 7-2 Golden Knights. Maginn fell to 0-5.

Giuliana DiGioacchino produced seven kills, and Emily Hilton added 13 digs to help Schalmont stop Cobleskill-Richmondville, 25-16, 25-9, 25-21, in the Colonial Council.

Rachel Pineda registered three kills, two aces and five digs for the 6-2, 8-2 Sabres.

Vanessa Brand and Amelia Butler combined for 13 service points and four aces for the 2-7 Bulldogs.

Nicole Brower’s 11 service points and four kills and Mariel McGinnis’ four kills lifted Voorheesville over Albany Academy, 25-13, 25-13, 25-12.

Cohoes topped Mechanicville, 25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 25-20.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (8-0) remained perfect with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-16 win over Holy Names.

Micaela Bullis put down 12 kills, and Dariel Harbeck added nine kills for the Indians. Katie Beswick contributed 24 assists and nine digs.

Meghan Williams posted three kills for 6-2 Holy Names.

Behind a combined 19 kills and 15 aces from Megan Ford, Katie Barber and Sarah Dempsey, Ichabod Crane stopped Lansingburgh, 25-10, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22.

The Riders are 2-6; Lansingburgh is 3-5.

Fonda-Fultonville came back from two games down to defeat Watervliet, 20-25, 14-25, 25-20, 25-20, 28-26, to improve to 4-4 in the Colonial Council and 5-5 overall.

Cory Laci had 10 aces and eight kills for Fonda, and Miranda Nethaway had eight kills and four blocks.

Laci Szczepanski had eight kills for Watervliet (5-3 overall), and Ayonna Hamby had 14 service points.

Emily Schumaker’s 26 service points and five digs led Waterford-Halfmoon over Berlin, 25-5, 25-11, 25-9, in a Central Hudson Valley League match.

The Fordians (4-0, 6-0) also got 13 service points and 10 assists from Emily Jones. Berlin dropped to 2-3 and 3-5.

In a non-league match, Gloversville beat Amsterdam, 25-11, 26-16, 25-22.

Jenna Putnam had 18 assists, 11 aces and three kills, while Katlyn Pierce was key up front with 12 kills and four blocks for 3-3, 4-3 Gloversville.
