— A student at Mayfield Junior-Senior High School has a confirmed case of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, district officials said.

The district began notifying parents of the diagnosis Friday. Officials are also providing information on the symptoms of pertussis along with recommendations from the state Department of Health.

The information can be found on school district's website (click HERE).

The district will provide updates on illness should it spread on the website and School News Notifier.

District officials also said people with questions about whooping cough should contact the Fulton County Health Department, 736-5720.
