Girls’ volleyball: Lady Indians win
Katie Beswick was on the serving end of 16 points and assisted 19 times as Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk swept Fonda-Fultonville and ran its Colonial Council record to 7-0.
Chelsea McMillen had eight kills and 10 digs in the Indians’ 25-14, 25-17, 25-11 win, and Hope Rebeor contributed six kills and four blocks for the Patriot Division leaders.
Taylor Wetsky had six service points, three aces and five kills for the Braves (3-4, 3-4).
Rachel Pineda had nine kills, Julianna Mastrianni served six aces and Lindsay Burns had nine assists to lift Schalmont (5-2, 5-2) past Cohoes, 25-16, 25-13, 25-14.
Taylor Hines had five kills, and Alydia Zecca served four aces among her 10 points as Mechanicville notched its first Colonial Council win, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23, over Albany Academy.
Kathleen Schurman delivered 11 kills, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake extended its Suburban Council win streak to 320 matches with a 25-13, 25-9, 25-16 sweep of Colonie.
Lynsea Hensel and Molly McCormack had a combined 18 kills for the Spartans (7-0, 10-0), who haven’t lost a league match since the 1990 season.
Bethlehem earned its first league win, with Carrie Maniccia collecting 19 assists in a 25-12, 25-18, 25-21 sweep of Saratoga Springs.
Sophy Levine had seven kills for the Blue Streaks.
Miranda Eagan played a significant role in Mayfield’s 25-11, 25-19, 25-15 Western Athletic Conference won over Fort Plain with eight kills, 14 points, three aces, three blocks and seven assists.
Nicole Little had seven kills and 11 points for the Panthers (3-1, 5-1), Karissa Morey had 11 points, and Bailey Ward added 10 points and six assists. Shawna Cotton had seven points for Fort Plain (1-3, 1-4).
Sierra Hubbard and Kathryn Salo both served six aces, and Gabriella Audino had 18 assists, five aces and four kills as Berne-Knox-Westerlo (3-1, 4-1) defeated Middleburgh, 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 25-7.
Shyla Hinkley paced the Knights with six kills and four blocks.
Emily Orminski’s 26 points included seven aces in Galway’s 14-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 triumph over Saratoga Catholic.
Orminski also had 14 assists for the defending North Division champs (4-0, 6-0), Emily Zawisa had nine kills and 11 points, and Adrianna Watrobski and Hayley Martin both had four kills. Erin Thornton and Natalie Pikus both had seven kills for the Saints, while Thornton and Sierra Matthews joined for 30 digs.
Meaghan Sherlock came off the bench and served for the last two points in Amsterdam’s 25-11, 16-25, 25-22, 25-23 Big 10 win at Catholic Central.
Bayley Archinal led the Rams with eight kills and three blocks, Jordan Bernardo had seven kills, and Katie Ressel had five aces and nine assists. Clare Herubin totaled 11 kills and 16 digs for the Crusaders, and Laura Sodorsky came away with 19 digs.
Ting-Ting Yang served nine aces in Emma Willard’s 25-23, 25-11, 25-23 Central Hudson Valley League win over New Lebanon.
