Field hockey: BH-BL win in overtime

Aubrey Kamppilla scored midway through the first overtime, and Brittany Ryan made seven saves as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake edged Saratoga Springs, 1-0, for its fourth Suburban Council win in five games.

Kamppilla connected with the Spartans two players down in overtime due to red cards, and Nicole Beardsley picked up the assist.

Sam Geils made five saves for Saratoga (3-2, 4-2), stopping a penalty stroke late in regulation. The Blue Streaks have lost two straight league games, both in overtime, sandwiched around a non-league victory over Glens Falls.

Ali Wells fired in two goals, Anna Torri and Carrie Hanks both had a goal, and Emily King made two saves for her third straight shutout as defending league champion Niskayuna (4-0, 5-0) topped Shaker, 4-0.

Niskayuna has outscored its opponents, 19-3. Emily Phillips made 12 saves for the Blue Bison (1-4, 1-4).

Casey Stata and Anna Branch scored goals in each half, Anna Bottino assisted on both, and Mel­issa Neason made sive saves as Shenendehowa (4-1, 5-1) defeated Columbia, 2-0, for its fourth consecutive win.

Nikki Kirby made nine saves for the Blue Devils (1-3, 3-2).

Jordan Brazis-Eberle had a hat trick, McKenzie Ruetz scored twice and Sydney Shaw also had a goal in leading Bethlehem (2-3, 3-3) to a 6-0 win over over Guilderland (0-5, 0-6).

Francesca Gundrum and Sarah Rapoport scored goals, Zoe McGuire made 10 saves, and Emma Willard (3-0, 4-1) remained perfect in the Patroon Conference with a 2-0 triumph over Taconic Hills (1-1, 1-3).
