Local housing sales up 14 percent this year

The number of homes sold in the first eight months of this year is 14 percent higher than the same time last year, according to statistic released today by the Greater Capital Association of Realtors.
As of the end of August, 6,297 homes had been sold, compared to 5,158 in 2011.
The median sale price in August was 4 percent than a year ago, a market trend that Nina Amadon, association president, said has been seen through the year.
