— Doane Stuart School has named Lisa F. Brown as interim head of school.

Brown has been a teacher and administrator at the school for more than 20 years. As associate head of school, she has overseen each academic division of the school and was the driving force behind the School’s Parent School Partnership, which is part of the school’s communication effort with parents.

Brown said she was grateful for the support and confidence of the board and to serving in the new capacity. She replaces longtime Head of School Richard Enemark, who suddenly offered his resignation effective Sept. 7.

“We know this news is a great shock to the community. We deeply appreciate all that Richard has done and given to the school over the last 14 years,” the school said in a statement on its website.

School officials went on to say they wanted to implement a new framework for the school and after the board discussed its vision with Enemark, he decided it was time for him to move on. He said in a statement that his departure “will give the board the greatest chance of instituting the new framework for Doane Stuart they have decided upon.”
