Boys' soccer: Pats' streak halted at 28
Freshman Owen Fingar’s goal in the second overtime gave Scotia-Glenville a 2-1 win over Broadalbin-Perth in a non-league game, as the Tartans ended the Patriots’ unbeaten run at 28 games, dating back to last season.
Eric Denny converted a penalty kick to put Scotia up, but Scott Everson scored off a Tucker Wilcox assist later in the first half to tie the game. It was the first goal conceded by 7-0-0 Scotia this season.
Broadalbin is now 5-1-1, as its unbeaten run ended at 24-0-4, the longest unbeaten streak in Section II since Maple Hill’s 48-game streak over the 2000-01 seasons.
Scotia visits Broadalbin-Perth again Wednesday in a Foothills Council match. The teams have played to a one-goal decision in their last eight meeting.
Bebeto Roberts scored from a Jhon Rojas assist in the first half as Schenectady beat Queensbury, 1-0, in a non-leaguer for its first win of the season.
Andrew Cyr made six saves for the 1-3-1 Patriots.
Saratoga Central Catholic used a late goal from Luke Spicer to beat Schroon Lake, 1-0. Joe Schmidt made 19 saves for the Saints.
Ryan Pappalau set up goals by Austin Scheeren, Jay Oakes and Josh Bailey as Galway shut out St. Johnsville, 4-0, in the WAC.
Tyler Georgen had the other goal for the 4-0-0 Eagles, who forced Saints goalkeeper Ricky Jasewicz to make 11 saves.
Chris Hanifin made 10 saves, including a pair in one-on-one situations in overtime, as Fort Plain and Northville played to a 0-0 draw.
The tie left the Hilltoppers at 4-0-1. Tim Monette made 11 saves for the 1-2-1 Falcons.
Dylan Toscano scored late in the first half, and Mayfield added a second score shortly after the break on a Canajoharie own goal as the Panthers beat the Cougars, 3-1, for their first WAC win this season.
Karl Gustafson of Canajoharie opened the scoring. James Winsman of Mayfield got the other goal.
Mekeel Christian Academy got three goals from Kenny Aderounmu, and two from his brother, Tai, in beating Sharon Springs, 6-0. T.K. Mejekdounmu had the other goal for the 4-0-0 Lions.
Kyle Elliott scored a goal, and Matt Rebel made 10 saves as Waterford-Halfmoon got a 1-1 tie at New Lebanon in the Central Hudson Valley League.
Alex LaBarge, Tyler Carr, Max Har and Taylor Baker came up with goals as Hoosick Falls beat Cambridge, 4-1, in the Wasaren League. Luke Bateman had the Cambridge goal.
Will Nevins scored the game’s lone goal as Schuylerville edged Hoosic Valley, 1-0, and Zach Horton’s two goals helped Tamarac top Granville, 5-0, in other Wasaren games.
Nick Lehoisky, Chris Jackson and Tyler Gleason all had a goal as Fort Ann topped North Warren, 3-0, in the Adirondack League.
