Cross country: Holy Names rolls at Shaker invite
Catherine Maloy (18:17.00) and Leah Triller (18:17.01) took the top two spots in leading Holy Names to the girls’ team championship at Shaker’s Ed Springstead Invitational.
Kaylee Scott ran third for Holy Names, which is ranked No. 1 among the state’s Class B teams, while Niskayuna’s Felicia Sciortino and first-year cross country runner Emily Burns of Guilderland placed fourth and fi fth, respectively.
Kyle Gronostaj (15:42.42) of Columbia won the boys’ 3.04-mile race, and Ben Fishbein and Stephen Booker of team titlist Bethlehem took the next two spots.
Philo Germano (14:59.39) of Albany and Madeline Montague (17:09.41) of team champion Greenwich notched victories in the threemile large-school races at the Fort Plain Invitational.
Small-school winners were Tom McClellan (14:59.43) of Mayfield and Kelly Pasko (18:24.15) of team champion Maple Hill. The boys’ team honors went to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (large) and Fonda-Fultonville.
Germano won the closest race, edging John Knox (15:01.90) of Gloversville.
