Solar makes a heckuva lot more sense than fossil fuel Re the Sept. 2 letter from Thomas Donohue, alleging that New York state is wasting money subsidizing solar energy installations, there are two sides to every story. With solar energy, New York state is subsidizing a safe, clean and healthy source of power. Currently our government spends billions of dollars subsidizing fossil and nuclear energy. What are the actual costs of fossil and nuclear fuels? ...

Bruce Holden is right on. And anyone who disagrees should watch this clip from The Newsroom - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGAvwSp86...

Don't you just love the liberal thinking? There are more people than needed in all state and federal jobs and we are paying for it now and in the future when they retire. This massive growth of government under Obama is unsustainable. What we need to do and Romney has a plan is grow the private sector and if that happens we may not need to fire those loafers working for the government.

Joanne and Paul,

I went to the website and read about your hobby project. That must of been fun and very expensive. When you say the Town of Clifton Park awarded you a tax easement of 95%, does that mean the rest of the residents in Clifton Park are subsidizing you to the tune of I would guess $12,000/yr?? Shouldn't you give that money back to them? How much did your solar system cost? How much did the NYS and Federal governments give you in tax exemptions for the installation? Shouldn't you give that money back to us?

Also, stop using that tired old lie that the oil and gas industry is subsidized by the government. It is not.

You folks who think that voter fraud is a nonexistent issue happening in our country are truly lost in space. You like all others who think this way are fools and you folks need to flush your heads out. The only way you people can defend this argument is to direct the readers in this forum to watch a television show that is based around fictitious characters is truly sad, you can do better than this if you expect people to support your side in this case. Read the papers my friends, it happens on both sides of the aisle. Both parties are guilty of this which is a Federal and State crime, but it happens to be more on the side of Democratic Party who violate these statutes. Does the name ACORN remind you of anything? If you would be up on current events, I call your attention to the issue there was a trial occurring recently in Rensselaer County involving voting irregularities that involved fraudulent ballots and other paper work being forged by two county officials, who BTW were Democrats. This seems to be a reoccurring habit with the Left because the Democratic Party is so insecure with their policies and ideology that the majority of the people in the US want nothing to do with the Democrats or the crap they are shoveling so they need to cheat to win elections. The requiring of the presentation of identification is needed to prevent voting fraud from occurring. No one is trying to keep people from voting, but the people behind the requiring of photo identification needed to be presented at the time people vote is done so to protect the most sacred right that we as citizens were given in the Constitution. It just kills me when you folks pull the race card in these issues because you who support these lame arguments know you are losing the battles of the social issues and you need to pull out all the stops and distort the truth by muddying the waters to create confusion over this and other issues because you are not being truthful with the American people and we are tired of the deceit and are taking are country back one issue at a time.

Joanne and Paul,

I found, on the internet, where you uploaded your financials for the solar system that you installed. $55,400 for the system, $12,250 for rebates and $16,451 in tax credits. So it looks like we paid for a lot of your system. Your welcome...Not such a good deal if you had to pay for everything yourself.

If you take that $55,000 and figure just a very modest 3% growth he would be making $99,336 which at a cost of $300 per month for utilities it would take him 27.59 years to break even.

Voter Fraud?

AUG. 12, 2012...
A new nationwide analysis of 2,068 alleged election-fraud cases since 2000 shows that while fraud has occurred, the rate is infinitesimal, and in-person voter impersonation on Election Day, which prompted 37 state legislatures to enact or consider tough voter ID laws, is virtually non-existent.
In an exhaustive public records search, reporters from the investigative reporting projecdt News21 sent thousands of requests to elections officers in all 50 states, asking for every case of fraudulent activity including registration fraud, absentee ballot fraud, vote buying, false election counts, campaign fraud, casting an ineligible vote, voting twice, voter impersonation fraud and intimidation.

Analysis of the resulting comprehensive election fraud database turned up 10 cases of voter impersonation. With 146 million registered voters in the United States during that time, those 10 cases represent 1 out of about every 15,000,000 prospective voters."

The Republicans can not win this presidential election unless they reduce the number of LEGAL Democrats voting. Voter ID is about 'Voter Suppression' not 'voter fraud'.

The Newsroom is a TV show that broadcasts news based on real events. And from what I've seen, it's a lot more truthful-to-real-life than most Fox News Broadcasts :)

Snowgrinch again here is your news21;

http://www.groupsnoop.org/News21

News21 is an investigative journalism collaborative. Comprised of college students and led by academic advisors, News21 conducts in-depth investigative reporting. News21 provides its stories freely to the media. Liberal media outlets often publish work written by News21 students in a practice known as co-publishing. News21 work has been criticized for being sloppy and incomplete.

Prominent liberal media outlets such as the Washington Post, MSNBC and the Center for Public Integrity have republished News21 reports.[1]

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation have provided millions of dollars to News21.

Sloppy and incompetent liberal bias is how I read news21.

Dangoodspeed, I'm sorry but wasn't it Brian william and NBC and MSNBC that were found to doctor multiple news items including cutting and pasting conversation relating to Trayvon Martin? I don't remember Foxnews being caught or even accused. Also it was just reported that CBS and other mainstream media was caught on tape prepairing to go after Mitt Romney. You liberals are too funny, you believe that people are stupid, the only thing stupid is you believing it.

Snow, If you want to divide fraud cases by the number of votes cast nationwide, yes the number is infinitesimal. But that would be a worthless number to calculate. Voter fraud has a huge impact in races that are decided by a couple thousand or couple hundred votes. Take for example, Senator Franken in MN. Won that election by I think 370 votes, but during the so-called recount, over 1000 felons voted, ballots turned up weeks after the election in the trunks of cars, etc. The voter fraud most often is perpetrated by democrats. Why is that?

The voter fraud thing people don't get is that it happens but there is no way of documenting hard numbers in the current system, if you need an ID to go to a r rated movie, a concert, ride a plane, by a beer, drive a car or buy a lotto ticket you should have no problem showing ID to vote. There is a reason the left does not like voter ID, they want to keep cheating.

Dan, so what does that have to do with NBC and their proven lies and liberal bias. I would say they are responsible for the division of races.

To me, NBC is still right-wing media often biased more toward the right than the left. The truth is that Fox is 100x worse as far as misleading the public and there's study after study saying Fox News viewers are less informed about the world than those who don't watch any news at all. And it's telling that you had to go back 20 years to find a half dozen "errors" (most of which could be called honest mistakes) from multiple news agencies, when you only have to go back a a couple days to find just as many from Fox News alone. But hey, once your mind is made up, there's no changing it.

You know what is funny Dan? I watch NBC news every night of the week and watch Fox news maybe once every month or so. Saying NBC is a right wing news show is like saying Bill Clinton liked to have a cigar or two with his female interns.
