The budget analyst who publicly urged the City Council not to vote for the county sales tax agreement has been fired. Analyst Jason Cuthbert said he was fired midday Wednesday for “tension and conflict in the financial office.” Mayor Gary McCarthy had wanted the council to approve the sales tax deal, which he had negotiated with the county. But some council members were vehemently opposed. Finally, a day before the vote, Cuthbert went over his ...

God Bless Jason Cuthbert in all he does. A true Public Servant. Who took an oath to serve the city. A man that lives in the City of Schenectady and performed his duty with honor and respect for all the people of Schenectady. Because of public servants like him, this City does have hope. Truth will always prevail over darkness and lies. Those that seek Truth will See Truth. Those that want to live by lies will remain in darkness.

With all of the information that Mr. Cuthbert had presented to the council, how did they come to the decision to vote in favor of this sales tax agreement with the county? Voters need to take a real hard look at this vote and remember it when election time comes up for these individuals. It seems that these party decisions are made out of sight of the general public and real facts are ignored. I wonder what the real goal/vision of the Democrats is? Looks like more power and control by county politicians and the Democrats.

Cfield hit it on the head. Did the mayor share the process by which he ended up recommending such a deal. As a life long Democrat, this mayor's demeanor and tactics frighten me. Has he made any public statements on how he arrived at his recommendation.

The facts of Mr Cuthbert's termination are not relevant. What I'd like to know, is not WHY, but HOW the mayor came to his recommendation.

I see that Ms. Porterfield is running for reelection.

Dump Porterfield
Write in Jason Cuthbert
Put intelligence into office, not hacks.

Jason...maybe you should think about running against McCarthy or anther office next time around. Although, I think you have to much integrity to do so.

Jason is the kind of people we need in our Cities/government's. If more people would speak up when they see things they believe are not in our best interest things may change but instead we reward them with loss of employment. So sad.

Our city lost a great asset when McCarthy decided to terminate Jason. Wish you luck in you search for employment, our loss is someone else gain. God Bless
