Truck driver listed 'fair' after Wednesday rollover
GLENVILLE The Rotterdam driver who was injured after his truck tipped on its side off Hetcheltown Road Wednesday remains in fair condition at Albany Medical Center.
Robert DeCarlo, 46, was on his way to deliver gravel from William M. Larned & Sons to the Glendale Home construction project at about 1:30 p.m., when one of his front passenger side tires left the pavement after hitting a section of the road with minimal shoulder. The truck overturned and hit a tree, according to Glenville Police Lt. Stephen Janik.
“It completely crushed the cab portion of the vehicle,” he said.
DeCarlo was trapped in the vehicle for nearly two hours as firefighters from the Thomas Corners, East Glenville, Alplaus and Stratton Air National Guard fire departments worked to free him using the Jaws of Life and other extrication equipment, according to Janik.
DeCarlo sustained a broken leg, possible rib injury and cuts. He was transported to Albany Medical Center.
Janik said it was ruled an accident and no tickets were issued.
