Maine earthquake felt as far away as Capital Region

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Maine this evening sent shudders as far away as the Capital Region. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake’s epicenter about three miles west of Hollis Center, Maine — not far from Portland — at 7:12 p.m. It was about three miles deep, sending tremors to Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.
