— The Colonie Police Department is investigating several incidents involving the passing of counterfeit money.

Police say there have been eight incidents in the past three weeks where counterfeit $20 and $100 bills were passed.

The counterfeit $20 bills are complete counterfeits that have been illegally printed with repeating serial numbers and the $100 bills are $5 bills that have been bleached and reprinted over with $100 information, police said, noting that the passing of the counterfeit $20 bills and passing of the counterfeit $100 bills do not appear to be related.

The investigation is being aided by the United States Secret Service.

The suspects in the passing of the counterfeit $100 bills are described as: black male, blue jean jacket and long sideburns and a black female, heavy set, hair in a bun, black sweater and blue jeans.
