— The Shenendehowa Teachers Association and the Shenendehowa Central School District have reached an agreement on a three-year contract for the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2014, it was announced this morning.

The parties agreed to changes in the design of the health insurance plans and an increase in employee contributions resulting in a cost savings to the district of about $800,000, the district said. The agreement provides incremental step increases and general salary increases between 0.25% and 1%. The three-year, average net increase in the salary schedule is less than one half of one percent (0% in the first year, .41% in the second year and .51% in the third year).

Megan DeLaRosa, president of the STA, said, “This was a long and difficult negotiations process for both parties. We were able to remain professional and focus on long-term goals in reaching this agreement. As we face the upcoming school years, we have important issues to focus on as we consider APPR and student achievement.”

Superintendent Dr. L. Oliver Robinson, stated, “This was a fiscally conservative agreement that was fair and equitable to the teachers and to the taxpayers. We appreciate the efforts made by all parties to reach an amicable solution in these tough economic times.”
