Girls’ volleyball: Schalmont rallies

Rachel Pineda and Alyssa Hart both had six kills, and Schalmont won the final two sets to avoid Fonda-Fultonville’s Colonial Council upset bid.

Pineda had 10 aces and 13 digs, and Hart contributed four aces and three blocks as the Sabres (10-3, 12-4) rallied for a 22-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22 Liberty Division victory.

Taylor Wetsky sparked the Braves (7-5, 8-6) with 17 service points, eight aces and seven kills, and Miranda Nethaway had six kills and four blocks.

Freshman Haley Irvis had six kills and six blocks, and Darian Harbeck served 10 aces as Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk defeated Mechanicville, 25-16, 25-8, 25-7.

Hope Rebeor led the Patriot Division-leading Indians (10-1, 14-1) with nine kills, and Harbeck had seven kills and seven digs. Taylor Hines had seven kills for Mechanicville.

Quinn Craig had seven kills, April Craig served four aces, and Brook Morgan assisted on 14 points in Ichabod Crane’s 25-16, 25-20, 25-20 sweep of Cohoes.

Alaina Thaxter served for five aces and 15 points, and McKayla Sossei had 14 points and three kills as Cobleskill-Richmondville topped Albany Academy, 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 25-17. Lorraine Lewis had six aces and three kills for the Bears.

Molly McCormack registered 10 kills and five aces, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (12-0, 16-1) extended its Suburban Council win streak to 325 matches with a 25-14, 25-8, 25-16 triumph over Saratoga Springs.

Kathleen Schurman had eight kills for the Spartans. Nina Peppel and Sophy Lavine both had six kills for the Blue Streaks.

Guilderland bounced back from last week’s loss to Burnt Hills with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 victory over Columbia in which Allison VanDoren totaled 12 kills and six digs. Quincy Kinzel had nine assists, eight digs and seven kills to help the Lady Dutch go to 10-1 in the league.

Connie Krause had nine aces among her 12 service points to go with five kills, and Shenendehowa (10-2, 10-3) beat Niskayuna, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.

Taylor Murphy had 10 kills and three blocks for the Lady Plainsmen, and Hayley Macken collected seven kills and 25 assists. Katelyn Lampman paced Niskayuna with four kills and four blocks, and Sammi Atchinson had 10 digs.

Bethlehem surged late for a 25-20, 14-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-23 win over Averill Park. Jackie Kindlon led the Warriors with 15 kills.

India Terrell had seven kills and seven points, and Jesse LeFrancois and Schuyler Horiker had 13 and nine digs, respectively, as Albany (4-5, 6-6) dealt Troy its first Big 10 loss, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20, 12-25, 25-23.

Brayleigh Hanlon had five kills for Troy (6-1, 6-2), and Riley Martin had three kills, seven aces and 12 points.

Katlyn Pierce delivered seven kills, and Jenna Putnam had five kills and eight assists to lift Gloversville over Mayfield, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22, in a non-league match.

Ana Kroup added four kills and Christina Pavlovsky had nine assists for Gloversville (9-4). Nicole Little and Miranda Eagan had six kills apiece for Mayfield (10-3), Kaylee Bumpus had five kills, and Mackenzie Biggers had six points and nine digs.
