Price Chopper to unveil prototype store in Latham
LATHAM Price Chopper will announce plans Friday for a new concept store that will set the stage for other new stores, expansions and remodels planned for the Capital Region.
The supermarket chain describes the projects as a “major reinvestment” in the region, which is home to about one-third of Price Chopper’s 130 stores and its Schenectady headquarters.
The concept store will be its “most ambitious project ever undertaken” and will give shoppers “unprecedented opportunities and offerings,” according to a news release issued today.
About 10,000 square feet of space between Price Chopper’s Latham store on Route 9 and Hobby Lobby will be incorporated into the new store.
In the Friday announcement at the Latham store, Price Chopper CEO Jerry Golub and Executive Chairman of the Board Neil Golub will explain the new plans. Recent projects by the chain include the construction of a Price Chopper Limited in Saratoga Springs,
The region is in the midst of a grocery boom, as natural food stores move into the area and grocery chains add locations here.
