Three charged in Schenectady cleaver attack
SCHENECTADY Two people were accused this week of cutting a man with a cleaver and a third person accused of trying to hide the object from police.
Jeremy J. Whittington, 21, of 312 Germania Ave., and Jasmine Dunn, 21, address unavailable, each are accused of causing a 2- to 3-inch cut on the victim’s arm using the cleaver Tuesday evening at Hamilton Street and Veeder Avenue.
After police arrived, Matthew M. Richards, 18, of 930 Livingston Ave., is accused of telling police he had no weapons on him. A search, though, showed he had in his waistband an 8-inch meat cleaver used by the other two suspects, according to court papers.
Whittington and Dunn were each charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Richards faces a felony count of tampering with physical evidence.
