— A 25-year-old man was hospitalized and treated for hypothermia after city police officers found him in a creek while pursing someone Friday morning.

Around 8:35 a.m., police responded to the area of Brookwood Drive and Kirby Road — an area of the city where recent home burglaries have been reported — for reports of a suspicious man walking through backyards. When officers arrived, the man began running through yards and they chased him across Route 9N at Kirby Road and continued through a large field behind the old Ash Grove Inn, according to a news advisory released Friday night.

State police helped to set up a perimeter and search. After about 15 minutes, police could hear someone calling for help in a heavily overgrown area.

Sgt. Gregory Santos found 25-year-old Stephen Allen, address unknown, partially submerged in a creek that runs between Route 9N and Denton Road. He was unable to move and was helped out by additional officers, then taken to Saratoga Hospital.

Allen was still being treated for hypothermia and the incident remained under investigation Friday night.
