Three straight pins propel Sabres

Jonathan Batchler, Zach Tripp and T.J. Heller recorded consec-utive pins Thursday that powered Schalmont past Lansingburgh, 49-24, in a Colonial Council wrestling match.

Section II champ Nick Gallo and Kyle Jasenski added pins for Brian Faulisi in his first season as the Sabres’ head coach.

Travis Hogan’s pin at 152 pounds, the next to last bout, gave Water-vliet a 42-40 win over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk.

Cobleskill-Richmondvillle beat Albany Academy, 51-28, using three forfeits in the upper weights and pins by Lane Pleickhardt, Brandon Merchant and Devin Cooper.

Fonda-Fultonville topped Mech-anicville, 43-27, as Richard Bagley and Robert Bagley had back-to-back pins. Isaac Haner and Adam Erno matched that for the Red Raiders.

Colonie used five forfeits to beat Guilderland, 53-21, and give first-year head coach Jeremy Eggleston a win in his Suburban Council opener.

Saratoga Springs beat Ballston Spa, 44-27, behind falls from Richard Schrade, Drew Griskowitz, Max Kabanuk, Gino Rosato and Jim Heslin.

Sectional placers Kyle Green and John McHugh were among the pinners as Columbia beat Bathlehem, 69-18.

Boys’ basketball

Black Horses win

Dan Waldron scored 24 points, and Schuylerville held off Cohoes to post a 50-48 non-league win.

Ryan Buell had 11 points for the Black Horses. Brandon LaForest topped the Tigers with 18, and Elijah Newsome added 13.

Nick Sapienza scored 14 points as North Warren beat Northville, 39-24, in a non-league game.

Kalob Russell, Jim Grega and Tim Monette all scored five points for the Falcons.

Worcester got 24 points from J.T. Horne in a 54-17 win over Sharon Springs on Wednesday.
