CAPITAL REGION A 56-year-old Fort Johnson woman who was wanted for questioning led state police on a car chase through three counties this afternoon.
The chase began around 1 p.m. in Saratoga County when state police attempted to stop Kathleen Rajter, who was driving west on Route 67 in the town of Charlton, according to a state police release issued today. She refused to pull over, instead leading police on a pursuit through the city of Amsterdam in Montgomery County, north into Fulton County and west on Route 29 into the town of Broadalbin, where she struck a Fulton County Sheriff’s vehicle, police said.
Rajter was finally stopped 24 minutes later when a state police vehicle was able to force her car off the road while she was attempting to turn onto Steele Avenue Extension in the town of Johnstown.
Rajter was taken into custody without a struggle but racked up numerous vehicle and traffic charges during the 30-mile chase, as well as criminal charges in Fulton County and the city of Saratoga Springs.
Police say her top speed reached 75 miles per hour, but everyone walked away without injury.
