Shots do not fall for Siena women

— Rhode Island held Siena to 24.1 percent from the field and defeated the Saints, 47-39, on Saturday.

Senior Lily Grenci had 18 points and seven rebounds for Siena (1-2), and and Emilie Cloutier scored 10 points for the Rams.

The Saints took a 21-16 halftime lead, but managed to score just 18 points in the second half.

Colonie High graduate Tehresa Coles and Ida Krogh each scored eight points for Siena.

Teneka Whittaker had six assists for Rhode Island, which improved to 2-1.

Gina Castelli, who coached Siena for the last 22 years before being replaced by Ali Jaques, is on the Rhode Island staff as the director of player development.
