Both parties need to prove they’re Americans

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” — Abraham Lincoln.

Here’s an equation where A=American, D=Democrat, R=Republican. There was a time when A=D+R. These days the equation is R+D=A. There was a time when we lived under an economic system Now we live in an economic society, slovenly of dress, thought, courtesy and character. A society that knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Something is gravely amiss.

Figures don’t lie, but liars figure. “Trickle-down” economics is clearly absurd; witness the current 1 percent vs. 99 percent. Sadly, nay disgracefully, what trickles down is divisiveness. From the Right we often hear about “Liberal Media.” What I see in the network evening news is more hair-spray than substance. Notable exceptions are the twin evils of FOX and MSNBC (alphabetically). Thus is the equation mirrored.

Speaking of equations, here’s another; both are the intellectual equivalent of the Jerry Springer show. FOX “blames” the president of the United States for being re-elected, MSNBC gloats.

It is important to understand that no matter who is in the White House, that person represents only one third of our government. (As I write I must wonder how many “citizens” even know that!) Therefore, it is grossly unfair to assign responsibility for all our problems to one person. The responsibility is borne by all. We, as a people, must be pulling on the same end of the rope.

I don’t know the solution to our problems, neither does Barack Obama. But in my humble opinion, a staunch beginning would be to dispose of [House Speaker] John Boehner and [Democratic Minority Leader] Nancy Pelosi, and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid and [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell.

And trickle up poverty is not absurd? How about the fact that two thirds of the government failed to even pass a budget in four years even when Obama had the House and the Senate and all three branches of government the first two years. Time to stop blaming Bush and FOX News amd everyone else for Obama's failures.
