UPDATE: Police say boy, 5, died after he was assaulted by mother's boyfriend

GLENS FALLS — Glens Falls police report that a 5-year-old boy who suffered a grave head injury at the hands of his mother's boyfriend has died.
Gary Carpenter III died today in Albany Medical Center.
Brandon Warrington, 24, whom police identified as the boyfriend, was arrested Thursday on assault and reckless endangerment charges, and now is expected to face more serious charges.
The boy's mother, 23-year-old Jennie Mattison, was arrested on a charge of reckless endangerment.
Glens Falls Police Chief Will Valenza told the Glens Falls Post-Star that an autopsy on the child will determine how long the abuse was going on.
